Memorial Seminar celebrates Punjabi Language, Literary Excellence at Jammu

JAMMU, Apr 4: Dr. Gurcharan Singh Gulshan Trust, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, today organized the 3rd Memorial Gulshan Seminar at K.L. Saigal Hall, Jammu, bringing together eminent Punjabi literary personalities, scholars, and enthusiastic young learners in a vibrant celebration of language and literature.
The seminar was presided over by noted Sahitya Akademi Awardee writer Khalid Hussain, while distinguished academician Prof. Surinder Singh Seerat graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The presidium also included prominent literary and cultural figures such as Ajit Singh Mastana, Dr. Baljit Singh Raina, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi and Er. Satbir Singh Kukal.
The programme prominently showcased the literary talents and enthusiasm of students from Guru Gobind Singh Public Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani, and Guru Harkrishan Public School, Nanak Nagar. Speaking on the seminar theme, Dr. Surinder Singh Kukal highlighted the Trust's mission to promote and preserve the Punjabi mother tongue while addressing contemporary linguistic challenges.
In his presidential address, Khalid Hussain emphasized the importance of such literary gatherings and expressed gratitude to the organizers for fostering a culture of literature and language. On the occasion, he was also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Trust in recognition of his immense contribution to literature.
Chief Guest Prof. Seerat appreciated the initiative, stating that such programmes play a crucial role in nurturing cultural and linguistic awareness among the younger generation.
Earlier, Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, formally welcomed the guests and underlined the importance of engaging youth in literary pursuits, acknowledging the vital role of educators in cultivating literary sensibilities.
