JAMMU, Apr 7: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, today convened an extensive public outreach meeting at Khour, furthering his initiative to enhance public engagement and address local concerns.
Interacting with the local residents, the Minister reiterated the government's commitment towards ensuring responsive, transparent and citizen-centric governance. He said such outreach programmes are vital to bridge the gap between the administration and the public, particularly in rural and border areas. During the meeting, Satish Sharma conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing development works and departmental functioning in the area. He directed the concerned officials to adopt proactive approach in resolving the public grievances and ensuring timely redressal of genuine public concerns. He emphasized that accountability and accessibility must remain the cornerstone of a good governance.
Highlighting the importance of inclusive development, the Minister stressed that no area would be left behind, especially regions like Khour which require focused attention due to its geographical and strategic significance. He instructed the officers to maintain close coordination with the local representatives and ensure effective implementation of government schemes.
The public raised several key issues during the interaction, including concerns related to ration distribution, availability and efficiency of transport services, road connectivity, drinking water supply, youth-centric infrastructure, digital service delivery and various local development gaps. Responding to the public concerns, Satish Sharma assured that all their genuine issues would be addressed in a phased, transparent and result-oriented manner. The Minister further reiterated that strict monitoring mechanisms are being put in place to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the intended beneficiaries without delay or discrimination. Senior officers from various departments were present during the meeting and were directed to take immediate follow-up action on the issues raised.
