Congress raises questions over conduct of CEO SMVDSB
4/8/2026 9:55:06 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 8: Congress has raised serious questions over the insensitive conduct of CEO Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board as reflected in video getting viral in public domain and termed him unfit to head the religious body of the revered shrine in the country.
Demanding apology for his religiously insensitive conduct besides immediate shifting from present position of great sanctity for hurting the religious sentiments of people, Senior Congress leaders questioned the criminal silence of BJP and its brigade of public representatives on this highly condemnable incident and the issue of the duration of holy Shivkhori Shrine.
Addressing a joint press conference, JKPCC Working President Shri Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma, Former MLC Ved Mahajan alongwith Chief Media Coordinator Neraj Gupta and Media Panelist Sohit Sharma, JKPCC leaders took strong exception to the behavior and conduct of the officer being CEO of the Board heading the holy Shrine. They questioned the criminal silence of BJP and large team of MLAs and MPs over the highly sensitive issue of religious sentiments of people and sanctity of the revered shrine in the whole country. BJP is silent over the incident and the genuine issue of duration of the Yatra of Shiv Khori while Govt. claims normalcy and there is no justification of keeping curtailment of Yatra timing. They said these are not issues of politics but religious sentiments, sanctity and the dependence of large population for the bread and butter, they added, asking BJP to explain stand.
Hitting out at the Centre Govt. and BJP, Senior Congress leaders have taken exception to the dictatorial and threatening culture to deter the opponents and crush all voices of dissent. They referred to the swift and illegal action of Assam police against Pawan Khera only to create fear in the country against voice of dissent. It is unique style of BJP to check all voices raising questions and referred to the case of Udey Bhanu Chib and Sonam Wangchuk in this regard I the recent past to vindicate charge of dictatorship and undeclared emergency by BJP Govt..
They also raised questions over the vindictive and targeted action against MLA Rajouri Iftkhar Ahmed by the district administration yesterday, by taking over a piece of land in front of the copound of his house at Rajouri, without following any due process of law, whereas the said piece of land was in occupation and bonafide use of the family for over 75 years and can claim right under law of adverse possession. Since the said MLA is most vocal on public issues in Assembly and otherwise, the district administration took this action to please their bosses at the top. They said congress and its leaders shall continue to fight for the cause of people and democratic values, despite odds.
Raman Bhalla expressed concern over the unprecedented and untimely rains during the past few days, causing huge loss to the crops of farmers and horticulturists. He demanded that the Govt. should direct all DCs and field functionaries to assess the losses in order to provide financial relief to the farmers, who were already in distress due to lack of any compensation/relief by the Centre for the huge losses in the last year's floods. BJP is unsympathetic to the farmers, he charged.
