J&K police organised Thana Diwas at multiple locations in Kathua

KATHUA, Apr 10: As a part of the ongoing public outreach programme, "Thana Diwas", an initiative of the Government of J&K UT to strengthen Police-Public relations and to ensure timely redressal of people's grievances, was organized at multiple locations i.e at P/S Lakhanpur(Manjli), PS Kathua (Ghatti), PS Hiranagar (Sherpur), PS Billawar, PS Basohli (Bhoond), PS Malhar & PS Bani(Roulka)area by District Police Kathua. The programmes were chaired at different venues by senior officers of District Police Kathua viz. Addl.SP Kathua Sunil Kesar-JKPS accompanied by DySP DAR Kathua Bhagwan Dass, SHO PS Lakhanpur Insp. Neeraj Choudhary attended the Thana Diwas at Manjli, Panchayat Sawala, Lakhanpur whereas SDPO Border Dheeraj Katoch, SHO PS Hiranagar Insp. Amit Sangra attended Thana Diwas programme at Sherpur, whereas DySP Hqrs Kathua Ravinder Singh accompained by DySP PC Kathua Pushpa Rajput, SHO PS Kathua Insp. Ashish Sharma & IC Out Post Ghatti attended Thana Diwas at Ghatti area of PS Kathua whereas, SP Ops. Upper Kathua Prithpal Singh JKPS, SDPO Billawar Sh. Neeraj Padyar & SHO PS Billawar Insp. Zaheer Mushtaq attended said programme at PS Billawar and SHO PS Basohli Insp. Rajeshwar Singh under the guidance of SDPO Basohli Om Parkash attended the Thana Diwas at Bhoond area of PS Basohli.In addition, Thana Diwas in the jurisdiction of PS Malhar was organised under the close supervision of DySP PC Malhar & SHO PS Malhar Insp. Shakeel Ahmed & Thana Diwas at Bani area was attended by DySP PC Bani Ameen Bhat JKPS accompanied by SHO PS Bani Insp. Pawan Singh.
Prominent civil society members, PRIs and respectable citizens of the respective areas participated in large numbers and interacted with the police officers. During the programmes, participants highlighted various local issues and matters of public importance i.e tenant Verification, Drug peddling, cctv cameras installation,traffic management, maintain Law & Order, Introducing Three New Criminal Laws as well as grievances related to civil administration will be forwarded to the concerned for their redressal accordingly. The locals were also sensitized about the prevailing security scenario. They were requested to immediately inform the Police in case of spotting any unknown or suspicious person, vehicle or movement and to ensure timely sharing of information. The officers assured them that genuine grievances related to policing will be redressed on priority, while issues concerning civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early resolution. Addressing the gatherings, the officers reiterated that community policing is essential to boost public confidence, which in turn strengthens the fight against crime and social evils. Special emphasis was laid on the menace of drug abuse, with a call for collective responsibility to eradicate this threat from society. SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma IPS has conveyed that District Police Kathua is committed to working in close coordination with the public, ensuring transparency and accountability in policing, and safeguarding the district against crime and social evils.
