Early Times Report RAJOURI, Apr 11: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University today formally launched its 100-day campaign in alignment with the UT-wide Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, reaffirming its commitment to combating substance abuse through sustained awareness, prevention, and rehabilitation initiatives across the campus and beyond. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Vice Chancellor (BGSBU) emphasized the significance of the initiative launched by the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, terming it a decisive step in addressing the growing menace of drug abuse in society. He highlighted that while controlling the supply of narcotics is crucial, institutions must equally focus on preventive measures, awareness generation, and rehabilitation efforts. The Vice Chancellor underlined the pivotal role of educational institutions in shaping responsible and informed youth. He urged all departments of the University to actively participate in the campaign and organize a diverse range of activities, including awareness programmes, student engagement initiatives, outreach campaigns, cultural events, and counselling sessions throughout the 100-day period. Highlighting the challenges of rehabilitation, he stressed the need to strengthen support systems and create a stigma-free environment that encourages individuals to seek help. He also called for collective responsibility in supporting affected families and fostering a compassionate and informed society. Abhishek Sharma (IAS), Registrar, BGBSU, also emphasized coordinated institutional efforts and assured full administrative support for the successful implementation of the campaign across all departments of the University. The University will be organizing a series of activities over the next 100 days, engaging students, faculty, and the wider community in a sustained movement towards a healthier and drug-free Jammu and Kashmir. |
