| Blood Donation Camp Organized at GMC Jammu on Baisakhi by SOLACE NGO | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 14: A voluntary blood donation camp was organized today at the blood bank of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu by SOLACE - a group of volunteers - in collaboration with the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology (ISBTI) and SUPPORT NGO. SOLACE is a volunteer-driven organization committed to humanitarian causes, actively working in the fields of health awareness, blood donation drives, and support for underprivileged communities. The organization continues to play a vital role in mobilizing youth and promoting a culture of service and compassion in society. The camp, held on the auspicious festival of Baisakhi, witnessed active participation from volunteers and donors who came forward to contribute to the noble cause of saving lives. Prominent personalities present on the occasion included Kamran Ali Khan, Chairman of SOLACE; Dr. Navneet Kour, Vice Chairperson ISBTI and Chairperson NGO SUPPORT; Kuwarani Ritu Singh of the Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation; Dr. Meena Sidhu, HOD Blood Bank and Chairperson ISBTI; Dr. Sanjeev Digra, HOD Paediatrics SMGS; Rtn Dr. Monika Suri; Mr. Sadiq Khan, former Secretary General ISBTI; Rtn Dr. Monika Kotwal; Dr. Fowzia Khan; Dr. Anam Khursheed; and Nida-e-Iram, Academician. The event was supported by NGO SUPPORT under the guidance of Dr. Navneet Kour and with support from Kuwarani Ritu Singh of the Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation. These dignitaries actively motivated voluntary blood donors throughout the event. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Navneet Kour, Vice Chairperson of ISBTI J&K Chapter, expressed happiness over organizing the camp on Baisakhi. She appreciated the donors for their generous contribution and reiterated the importance of such initiatives in strengthening the region's blood supply. Kuwarani Ritu Singh expressed joy in celebrating the festival of Baisakhi through the noble cause of sewa. She thanked the donors and all those present, urging the youth to join in large numbers and actively engage in community service. Kamran Ali Khan, Chairman of SOLACE, emphasized the need for regular blood donation, particularly for patients suffering from Thalassemia, who require frequent transfusions. "Regular donation is a lifeline for many. I urge people to come forward and support such initiatives to save lives," he said. Donors at the camp also shared their experiences, highlighting the significance of donating blood and encouraging others to participate in such humanitarian efforts.
