Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 20: National Conference Additional General Secretary and former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on Monday expressed deep anguish and grief over the loss of twenty one lives and about thirty injured in a tragic and unfortunate accident on the Udhampur-Ramnagar road, terming the incident as heart-rending.
In a condolence message, Sadhotra said the loss of precious lives in the mishap has caused immense sorrow and distress, and described it as a grave tragedy for the affected families. He conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with them in this hour of grief.
Sadhotra prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and strength to the families to bear the irreparable loss. He also extended his sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident, hoping they regain health at the earliest.
Expressing concern over the condition of the injured, Sadhotra urged the authorities to ensure specialized and adequate medical treatment to all those affected, free of cost. He said every possible support must be extended to the injured so that they receive timely and proper care without any financial burden.
He also called upon the administration to provide immediate ex-gratia relief and financial assistance to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the accident.
He expressed confidence that the government would respond with sensitivity and ensure that necessary compensation is provided to the affected families without delay. Sadhotra stressed the need for adequate financial assistance to the injured to help them cope with medical expenses and recovery. He said such support is crucial in times of crisis when families face emotional and financial distress.
Sadhotra has demanded a high-level inquiry into such unfortunate tragic accident so that effective measures be taken to ensure that in future there is no such accident and responsibility be fixed for such a tragic accident.
Describing the incident as a painful reminder of the need for greater road safety measures, Sadhotra said all stakeholders must work collectively to prevent such tragedies in future.
