Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 21: In a step towards enhancing rural livelihoods and fostering sustainable agricultural practices, the troops of the Crossed Swords Division, under the aegis of White Knight Corps conducted a Mushroom Farming Awareness Lecture at Village Samha. The event saw the active participation of over 50 villagers, including Ex-Servicemen (ESM), marking a successful convergence of the local community and military personnel. The primary aim of the initiative was to promote mushroom cultivation as a sustainable source of income and nutrition. During the lecture, villagers were educated on the basic techniques of mushroom farming, including soil preparation, cultivation methods and harvesting techniques. They were encouraged to adopt mushroom farming at the household level, which has the potential to enhance their livelihood opportunities, especially in the remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir. This programme is part of the ongoing efforts to foster socio-economic development and self-reliance, aligning with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. It also strengthens civil-military cooperation, demonstrating the Indian Army's commitment to the well-being and empowerment of local communities |
