Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Apr 23: Senior BJP leader and MP Rajya Sabha (Nominated) Er. Gulam Ali Khatana heavily criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, alleging a deliberate political conspiracy to deny him official accommodation in Srinagar. Khatana said the NC-Congress alliance is uneasy because Kashmiris have decisively rejected them. "Both parties misled the public for decades with hollow promises like plebiscites, turning Kashmir into a graveyard. In contrast, the BJP's influence is growing as development reaches the grassroots." Highlighting the shifting ground reality in the Valley, the BJP leader credited the central government's strong policies. "It is through the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah that we are finally seeing stability in Kashmir," Khatana stated, adding that their administration has successfully curbed militancy and ushered in peace after decades of unrest. Furthermore, he praised the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's administration for prioritizing youth empowerment through education and sports. "CM Omar Abdullah fears this shifting political landscape. He does not want me to stay in Kashmir or meet the people," Khatana stated. The MP said that his accommodation application, submitted in 2025, has been pending for over a year. He categorized this not as an administrative delay, but as a conscious effort to silence his tribal outreach. He alleged institutional complicity, pointing fingers directly at top bureaucrats. "Additional Chief Secretary to the CM, Dheeraj Gupta, denied involvement, while Additional Chief Secretary Shaleen Kabra stalled the process", he said, and accused the Chief Minister's Office of orchestrating the obstruction by shamelessly and evasively questioning his eligibility as a sitting MP. Labeling the episode as blatant sabotage, Khatana said the government is rattled by the growing Kashmiri support for the BJP. He called the actions an attack on democratic principles and an attempt to isolate the Kashmiris, who suffered decades due to misrule of NC-Congress. Issuing a direct challenge, Khatana vowed that political vendettas would not deter him. He announced plans to visit Kashmir and Bandipora district in the first week of May at his own expense. "Denying accommodation will not stop me-it only exposes the insecurity and anti-tribal mindset of this government," Khatana declared, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the people of of Jammu and Kashmir. |
