Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Apr 23: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, Science & Technology and ARI & Trainings, Satish Sharma, today conducted a detailed inspection of the arrangements being put in place for the upcoming national-level Chintan Shivir at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar.
During the visit, the Minister undertook a comprehensive review of all the logistical, administrative and security arrangements being put in place for smooth and successful conduct of the prestigious event. He inspected the main conference venues, breakout halls, seating arrangements, digital and IT infrastructure, media facilities, accommodation plans for the visiting dignitaries, transportation logistics, sanitation, power backup and emergency response mechanisms.
The Minister was apprised of the preparedness of various departments, including coordination between civil administration, police, hospitality, transport, and tourism wings to ensure seamless execution of the event.
The Chintan Shivir is expected to be attended by the Sports Ministers from across the country, along with senior officers and policy experts, who will deliberate on a wide range of issues concerning development of sports in India. Key areas of discussion will include strengthening grassroots sports ecosystems, improving access to modern infrastructure, promoting inclusivity in sports, leveraging technology in sports management, talent identification and nurturing mechanisms and enhancing the role of sports in youth engagement and nation-building.
Satish Sharma emphasized that hosting such a high-level national event in Jammu and Kashmir is a matter of pride and a reflection of the region's growing stature as a destination for major conferences and sporting initiatives. He stated that the Union Territory offers immense potential in sports, particularly in disciplines such as winter sports, adventure sports and traditional games, which must be harnessed through focused policy interventions and investments.
The Minister directed the concerned departments to work in close coordination and ensure that every aspect of the event is executed with precision and professionalism. He stressed that special attention should be given to hospitality, security and time-bound execution of responsibilities so that the visiting dignitaries have a comfortable and memorable experience.
He further highlighted the importance of presenting Jammu and Kashmir's sports achievements, emerging talent and future roadmap during the deliberations, stating that the platform should be effectively utilized for knowledge exchange, collaboration and forging partnerships with other states.
