S.S. Sodhi meets Union Sports Minister; Key discussions held

New Delhi, Apr 27: In a landmark moment for Indian shooting sports, the 75th Anniversary of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Taj Hotel, New Delhi, in the presence of Olympians, international shooters, jury members, senior officials, and members of the media.
The Hon’ble Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, congratulated the NRAI and the entire shooting fraternity on the historic occasion of its 75th Anniversary, lauding its remarkable journey and contributions in elevating India’s global standing in shooting sports. He also expressed optimism about the upcoming Shooting League in India, terming it a significant step forward. The event was marked by the inauguration of the official anniversary logo and the launch of the new NRAI App, aimed at enhancing accessibility, transparency, and engagement within the shooting ecosystem.
On the occasion, the contributions of Sh. S.S. Sodhi, Governing Body Member of NRAI and President of the J&K Rifle Association, along with his team in Jammu & Kashmir, were appreciated by the Hon’ble Minister as well as senior NRAI officials for their efforts in promoting shooting sports in the region.
Dr. Mandaviya acknowledged the progress made under his leadership in strengthening shooting sports across Jammu & Kashmir and Leh.
During the interaction, Sh. S.S. Sodhi requested the Hon’ble Minister to facilitate the development of international-level sports infrastructure across disciplines in Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting the region’s potential to produce athletes capable of excelling at national and international levels.
Sh. Sodhi also expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister for his recent visit to Srinagar, where he engaged with sports organizations, athletes, and officials, noting that the visit has positively contributed to the sporting ecosystem in the region.
He further appreciated the Government’s continued efforts towards promoting sports development and youth participation across the country.
The Hon’ble Minister assured continued support from the Government of India for the development of sports infrastructure, talent identification, and athlete development across regions, including Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
