Early Times Report

Poonch, May 3: The Indian Army conducted health and drug awareness initiatives at Kulali and Gursai Moori on 03 May 2026 under the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan J&K to promote healthy living and spread awareness among youth regarding the dangers of substance abuse.
At Govt Primary School, Nabni, Kulali a Medical Awareness Camp was organised for 46 students and 02 teachers. The medical team conducted health check-ups, dental screening and awareness sessions on hygiene, nutrition, prevention of seasonal diseases and the harmful effects of tobacco. Free medicines and hygiene kits were also distributed. Students were educated on first aid and the importance of timely immunisation, while interactive sessions encouraged them to adopt healthy habits and spread awareness within their families.
Simultaneously, a Drug Awareness Debate Competition was organised at Govt High School, Gursai Moori to sensitise students about the growing threat of drug abuse. Participants actively discussed the harmful impact of drugs on health, families and society, while highlighting the importance of education, counselling and community support in prevention. The event promoted critical thinking and encouraged students to become ambassadors of a drug-free society.
The initiatives were widely appreciated by school staff and local residents, who acknowledged the Indian Army’s continued efforts towards youth empowerment, awareness generation and social development in remote border areas.
