Five bovine smuggling bids foiled; 56 bovines rescued; 05 accused arrested by Udhampur police

Udhampur, May 3: Udhampur Police foiled 05 bovine smuggling attempts in separate incidents and rescued 56 bovines being transported illegally without valid permission.
PS Majalta:- (By foot)
A police team of PS Majalta during patrolling intercepted three separate groups of bovines which were being illegally taken on foot towards Kashmir without any valid permission.
During the operation, a total of 36 bovine animals were rescued safely. 03 accused involved in the smuggling have been arrested.
In this regard, 03 FIRs under relevant sections of law stand registered at PS Majalta and investigation is underway.
PS Majalta (Vehicle Cases):-
During naka checking, a police party of PS Majalta intercepted Vehicle No. JK-19A/2576 driven by Sawar Khan S/O Abdul Majid R/O Showa Ranjan Kot Balwal Jammu.
During checking, 10 bovine animals were found being transported illegally without valid permission.
The accused driver was arrested and all the bovines were rescued safely.
In this regard FIR No. 61/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS & 11 PCA Act stands registered.
In another similar incident, police intercepted Vehicle No. JK-19A/2703 driven by Mushtaq Ahmed S/O Mohd Hussain R/O Gujjar Basti Jammu. During checking, 10 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle without valid permission.
The accused driver was arrested and all the bovines were rescued safely.
In this regard FIR No. 62/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS & 11 PCA Act stands registered.
Further investigation into the cases is underway
