Reasi police crack down on drug network, two peddlers held with 11.1 grams heroin

REASI, May 4: Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking under the "Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan", District Police Reasi, under the supervision of SSP Reasi Sh. Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, achieved a significant success by apprehending two drug peddlers and recovering heroin from their possession. Today, during routine naka checking at Nomian Naka, a tempo traveller bearing registration number JK14G-0342 was intercepted for checking. During the frisking of passengers, two individuals were found in possession of contraband substances. The accused have been identified as: Kishore Kumar S/o Sham Lal R/o Agar Jitto, from whose possession approximately 5.6 grams of heroin (chitta) was recovered. Vikas Thakur S/o Satpal Thakur R/o H. No. 2035/12, Katra Sher Singh, Amritsar (A/P Kotli Manotrian), from whose possession approximately 5.5 grams of heroin (chitta) was recovered. In total, 11.1 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. In this regard, a case FIR No. 139/2026 under sections 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation has been set into motion to unearth backward and forward linkages of the drug network. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Kameshwar Puri, JKPS.
