Early Times Report DODA, May 6: In continuation of its sustained efforts under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Doda Police today organized a series of Special Gram Sabhas on drug abuse awareness across various Panchayats in the district, with active participation from multiple departments and members of civil society. A Special Gram Sabha on drug abuse awareness was successfully conducted at Panchayat Gai Dessa under the supervision of SHO PS Dessa. The programme was organized in coordination with the Health Department, Rural Development Department, Youth Services & Sports, and representatives of civil society. The event focused on sensitizing the public, especially the youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting collective community action towards a drug-free society. Similarly, under the jurisdiction of PP Karara of PS Thathri, led by IC PP Karara, Special Gram Sabhas were held in the Panchayats of Bhella, Thallela, Poneja, and Chiralla in collaboration with various departments. Awareness lectures on drug abuse were also delivered at Govt. HSS Chiralla and High School Poneja, wherein students were educated about the harmful effects of substance abuse. Staff members, Lambardars, Chowkidars, and local residents actively participated in the programme. Furthermore, under the jurisdiction of PP Premnagar of PS Thathri, led by IC PP Premnagar, Special Gram Sabhas were organized in the Panchayats of Panthan, Chaksu, Rokali, and Malhota. The events were conducted in coordination with the Health Department and other concerned departments. The programmes focused on educating the public about the ill effects of drug abuse and encouraging community participation in building a drug-free society.
