| SSP Reasi presides over Thana Diwas at Village Dharmari in Arnas | | | Early Times Report REASI, May 7: As part of the ongoing public outreach initiative Thana Diwas launched by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to strengthen Police-public relations, a community interaction programme was organized today at Dak Bungalow Dharmari in Sub Division Arnas. The programme was chaired by Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, and was attended by Sh. Updesh Kumar, DySP/SDPO Arnas; Sh. Hirdeyjeet Singh, JKPS, DySP SOG Arnas; Sh. Chaman Gorka, SHO PS Arnas; Captain Abhishek of 58 RR; along with representatives from the Civil Administration. The event witnessed active participation from members of civil society from Dharmari and adjoining areas. The interaction provided a constructive platform for dialogue, during which participants raised several public welfare and policing-related issues. Key issues highlighted by the public included the establishment of a Police Post at Dharmari, simplification of permission procedures for deras, and enhancement of honorarium for Village Defence Guards (VDGs). Responding to the concerns with empathy and assurance, SSP Reasi stated that all genuine grievances related to policing and public safety would be addressed on priority. He informed the gathering that the proposal for establishment of a Police Post at Dharmari has already been taken up with the competent authorities and is being pursued on priority. During the programme, participants were also sensitized about the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan being conducted across the Union Territory since 11.04.2026. Awareness was spread regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse on society and the collective responsibility of both Police and the community in eradicating the menace. SSP Reasi appealed to the public to actively support the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He further urged religious leaders, including Imams, to spread awareness against drug abuse through sermons and public interactions so that the message of the campaign reaches every nook and corner of the district. SSP Reasi also appealed to the public to act as the eyes and ears of the security forces and promptly report any movement or activities related to Anti-National Elements (ANEs), so that their nefarious designs can be effectively thwarted. Such initiatives continue to play a vital role in strengthening trust, transparency, and collaborative problem-solving between the Police and the communities they serve.
