'CGPWA holds Lecture & Camp on Ayurvedic Therapies
5/7/2026 10:42:52 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 7: The Central Govt Pensioners' Welfare Association, Jammu (CGPWA) today organised, for the first time, a Lecture on usefulness of Ayurvedic Treatment and Free Camp in collaboration with the Vaidyaratnam Vrindavan Ayurveda Chikitsalayam, Baddi Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Former Chief Secretary, J&K B R Sharma was the Chief Guest and President of CGPWA and former DGP & CVC Kuldeep Khoda presided. Ashok Angurana and Promod Jain were among those who attended the function.
In his 40-minute lecture on the usefulness of Ayurvedic therapies in the modern time, Dr. V M Menon forcefully pleaded for revival of golden years' healthcare traditions scripted in our Vedas and other ancient scriptures and recommended classical Ayurvedic Therapies to treat ailments from the roots rather than superficial cure. He said that their health care approach is focused on prevention rather than cure. In this context, he said that Panchakarma is the start of Ayurvedic treatment designed to remove deep rooted toxins from the mind and body to restore physical and mental balance. The Hospital is performing this therapy in classical Kerala protocol. It has been very successful in treating ailments like arthritis, psoriasis, skin disorders, Asthma, bronchitis, chronic migraine, irritable bowel syndrome, back pain & spinal disorders like sciatica, neurological disorders like Parkinson, paralysis, stroke etc.
Dr Menon admitted that there is a need for R&D in Ayurveda to bring back ancient wisdom in the field of healthcare and to bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern lifestyle. He said that even the WHO recognizes the effectiveness of the ayurveda system. He explained the system they are following at Baddi Hospital by comparing the body as Kurukshetra battlefield and the antibodies fighting infected germs and said through these therapies, antibodies are strengthened to win over antibodies and build disease resistance and nourishing vital essence. Antibodies struggle to work in a toxic environment in the body and therapies like Panchakarma do the deep-cleansing that resets the immune system by removing accumulated waste.
It was followed by a 40-minute question answer session during which the pensioners got clarification on many issues. Earlier the General Manager Chetan Saklani presented a PPT on the facilities of the Hospital. Commending the lecture as it provides very useful information about Ayurvedic therapies, B R Sharma said that ancient wisdom and old health care order is returning, replacing the modern systems but with modern coating. In this context, he gave some examples and said that in their childhood, elders in the family would apply or even make us drink Haldi milk in some health emergencies and now it has come back in rebranded Latte milk or coffee. Its traditional healthcare qualities have been accepted. He said that no healthcare system can be brushed aside as allopathic systems had to be trusted and followed in medical emergencies and later on, one can switch over to ayurvedic therapies.
