Early Times Report JAMMU, May 8: The Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu organised an extension lecture on the topic "Sampling Techniques in Research" today at the department. Dr. Shiv Kumar, Department of Library and Information Science (DLIS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, delivered the lecture as the resource person. In his address, Dr. Shiv Kumar highlighted the significance of various sampling methods in the research process and explained the distinction between probability and non-probability sampling techniques. He also discussed the practical application of these methods in ensuring the validity and reliability of research data and emphasised their relevance in contemporary quantitative and qualitative research. Earlier, Prof. Sangita Gupta, Head, Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu, delivered the welcome address and formally introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Shiv Kumar. An interactive session was also held in which participants deliberated upon the application of sampling principles in present-day research methodologies. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. P. K. Singh, who expressed gratitude to the resource person for delivering an insightful lecture. Faculty members, research scholars and students of the department attended the programme. |
