Early Times Report JAMMU, May 8: Jodhamal Public School actively participated in the observance of World Hand Hygiene Day 2026 as part of a wider campaign being organised in May. With the main global theme "Action Saves Lives." Recenlty an awareness programme was conducted at Jodhamal Public School, Jammu, in association with Narayana Super Speciality Hospital (NSSH) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME), Kakryal, Katra (J&K). The session featured Dr. Beena Jad, National Infection Control Professional and Assistant Professor (Microbiology), SMVDIME & Associated Hospital, SMVDNSH, as the speaker of the day. Through a detailed presentation, she emphasised Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices and the WHO's "5 Moments of Hand Hygiene." Adding a practical dimension, Lovika Mahajan, Infection Control Nurse, conducted hands-on training for students along with a live demonstration on effective hand sanitization and proper hand washing techniques. The session saw enthusiastic student participation, which was appreciated by the Coordinator, Mr. Sadiq. The programme also included contributions from Rajinder Singh Sodhi and Surinder Bhat, Deputy Managers at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital, Kakryal, Katra, who supported the awareness initiative. The trustees, Nandan Kuthiala and Arati Kuthiala extended appreciation, commending the school's commitment to nurturing responsible and health- conscious individuals. Appreciating the efforts, Amita Arora, The Principal of the school, lauded the enthusiastic participation of students, emphasizing that simple practices like hand washing can make a significant difference in enduring overall wellbeing. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by the Director, Deep Khare, acknowledging the efforts of all experts, organisers, and participants. The initiative focuses on strengthening hygiene practices, promoting IPC awareness, and encouraging healthy habits through demonstrations, competitions, and awareness sessions.
