Early Times Report REASI, May 9: Under the supervision of SSP Reasi Sh. Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, District Police Reasi achieved a significant breakthrough by successfully cracking a recent armed assault case reported at RK Palace Hotel, JIJ Chowk, Katra. In connection with the case, Police Station Katra arrested 04 accused persons and apprehended 02 Children in Conflict with Law (CICL) from the State of Haryana. On 02.05.2026, a group of persons armed with sharp-edged weapons, including a Toka, forcibly entered RK Palace Hotel and criminally assaulted one Sh. Jaswinder Singh @ Sundri, who sustained serious injuries during the attack. The injured was immediately shifted to CHC Katra for medical treatment. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 137/2026 U/S 109, 191(2), 191(3) BNS r/w 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Katra and investigation was taken up on priority. Following the commission of the offence, the accused persons fled to the State of Haryana in an attempt to evade arrest. Acting swiftly under the close supervision of senior officers, a dedicated police team of PS Katra launched sustained efforts using Human Intelligence (HUMINT) and technical surveillance, which ultimately led to tracing and apprehension of the accused persons from Haryana. The weapons of offence used in the crime have also been recovered. The arrested accused have been identified as: Akshay S/o Dildar, Serwad Katra, aged 21 years Sahil S/o Kewal, R/O Serwad Katra, aged 21 years Suraj S/o Indru, R/O Serwad Katra, aged 26 years Rahul S/o Ratan Lal, R/O Serwad Katra, aged 23 years Additionally, 02 CICL involved in the case have also been apprehended. Their identities are being withheld in compliance with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. Further investigation into the case is in progress. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Kameshwar Puri, JKPS.
