Jammu, May 13: As part of its continued commitment towards social welfare and youth empowerment, the Indian Army conducted an anti-drug awareness drive under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan at Khanetar, Budhal, Chassana and Songri in Districts Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and narco-terrorism, especially among the youth. At Khanetar, a lecture was conducted to educate participants on identifying symptoms of drug addiction, methods to overcome dependency and the damaging impact of drugs on individuals, families and society. The role of family members, friends and the community in supporting victims of addiction was also highlighted. In addition, informative banners and hoardings were installed at major public and transit points in Budhal, Chassana and Songri markets. These visual messages were designed to encourage the local population to adopt a drug-free lifestyle and promote collective responsibility in eliminating substance abuse. The event witnessed active participation from youth and local residents, who appreciated the Indian Army’s efforts in promoting awareness and social responsibility. The programme concluded with participants taking a pledge to stay away from drugs and support de-addiction efforts in their communities. The Indian Army remains committed to assisting civil administration and local communities in building a healthier, safer and drug-free society. |
