Katra, May 13: As part of the series of programmes conducted under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Govt. Degree College Katra organised a parental awareness workshop on the growing menace of drug abuse and the collective responsibility of society in safeguarding the younger generation from substance addiction. The programme was organised under the able guidance and patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Rajni Bhagat, who stressed the vital role of parents and educational institutions in identifying early warning signs of drug addiction among youth. She highlighted that awareness, emotional support, and regular communication between parents and children are essential in preventing substance abuse. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Mohd Younus Saleem, who sensitised the participants about the harmful physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences of drug abuse. He urged parents to remain vigilant regarding behavioural changes among adolescents and encouraged them to maintain a healthy and supportive home environment. Parents from the nearby vicinity actively participated in the workshop and appreciated the initiative taken by the college administration towards community sensitisation against drug addiction. The session also witnessed meaningful interaction between parents and faculty members regarding preventive strategies and awareness measures. Among the faculty members who attended the programme were Prof. Shikha Bhasin, Dr. Harmeet Kour, Dr. Abdul Hafiz, Dr. Bilal Ahmed, Dr. Ishfaq Hussain and Dr. Hilal Ahmed. The programme concluded with a collective pledge to strengthen awareness campaigns and work jointly towards building a drug-free society. |
