Early Times Report JAMMU, May 14: The NSS Units and NCORD Committee of GGM Science College, Jammu organised a counselling and awareness programme under the banner of "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" to sensitise students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and substance addiction. Keeping in view the ongoing examinations and the stress generally faced by students during examination days, the programme focused on counselling students to adopt healthy coping mechanisms, maintain mental well-being, and stay away from intoxicants and harmful substances. During the programme, students were counselled regarding the physical, mental, social and academic consequences of substance abuse. The importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, maintaining positive peer associations, and making responsible choices was highlighted. Students were also encouraged to spread awareness among their peers and contribute towards building a drug-free society. The programme was organised under the patronage of Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta. He appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of counselling and awareness programmes in educational institutions, particularly during examination periods when students may experience stress and anxiety. He encouraged students to remain focused on their goals, maintain a disciplined lifestyle, and seek positive and healthy ways to manage academic pressure. He also highlighted the collective responsibility of educational institutions in creating awareness and guiding students towards a drug-free and healthy future. The activity was coordinated by Dr. Neha Sharma, NSS Programme Officer and Prof. Poonam Kundan, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Sciences. Dr. Rahul Kait, NCORD Convenor and Coordinator CWASC, extended his cooperation and encouragement for successful conduct of the event. The college administration reaffirmed its commitment towards promoting awareness, counselling, and preventive initiatives for the well-being of students under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. |
