Kathua, May 16: In a major healthcare outreach initiative aimed at promoting early detection and awareness about cancer, the Professor K. B. Memorial Cancer Outreach Mission organised a free cancer screening and consultation camp in Gupta Hospital and research centre Kathua in association with American Oncology Institute ASCOMS Jammu. Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, inaugurated the camp in the presence of Dr Vijay Raina CMO Kathua and Dr A K Gupta Renowned Surgeon and Managing Director Gupta Hospital. The outreach initiative was organized by Lajwanti Bhagat Nath Radiations of Hope a cancer care Foundation Trust with the objective of promoting cancer awareness, encouraging early detection, and strengthening access to quality cancer care in the region. The camp witnessed an overwhelming response as residents from Kathua and adjoining areas turned up in large numbers to avail themselves of free medical consultations and diagnostic facilities. A team of specialists from the American Oncology Institute (AOI) examined patients and provided expert guidance on cancer-related ailments. The medical team included senior clinical oncologist Dr Deepak Abrol, senior surgical oncologist Dr Avinash Rajra, renowned urologist Dr Amit Suri and senior breast oncoplastic surgeon Dr Surbhi Kudyar. Patients were provided free consultations, screening tests and medicines during the programme. Apart from AOI and Gupta Hospital other organizations which took part in the camp were Raksha Kidney Center, Hope foundation and Jammu Health Care. |
