Early Times Report

Ramban, May 24: In a major crackdown against organized bovine smuggling and illegal accumulation of wealth, District Police Ramban has attached movable properties worth approximately Rs 36 lakhs under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in two separate cases linked to bovine smuggling activities.
The action was taken during the investigation of FIR No. 197/2025 registered under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and FIR No. 33/2026 registered under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
During the course of investigation, it surfaced that the accused persons had accumulated disproportionate assets through proceeds generated from bovine smuggling and other illegal activities. Further investigation established that the vehicles purchased by the accused were acquired from proceeds of crime linked to bovine smuggling operations.
Acting promptly on the findings of the investigation, Ramban Police obtained attachment orders from the competent court. In compliance with the court orders and in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, the following vehicles were formally attached:
1. Vehicle No. JK19A-3199, owned by Tosif Ahmed Mir S/O Ahadullah Mir R/O Ward No. 07, Tehsil Batote, District Ramban, with an estimated value of approximately Rs 27 lakhs.
