Reasi police detains habitual bovine smuggler under PSA

REASI, May 26: In a major action to maintain public order and communal harmony in the district, Reasi Police has detained a habitual bovine smuggler under the provisions of the J&K Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978.
The accused, Mohd Shakoor S/o Mohd Yousaf R/o Patta Kheral, District Reasi, was detained under PSA Order No. 01-PSA of 2026 dated 25-05-2026 issued by the District Magistrate Reasi. He has been lodged in District Jail Rajouri.
The accused was repeatedly involved in bovine smuggling activities and several cases were registered against him at Police Station Reasi. Despite being convicted in multiple cases earlier, he continued his illegal activities.
The following cases were registered against him:
FIR No. 115/2021 U/S 188 IPC & 11 PCA Act
FIR No. 36/2023 U/S 188 IPC
FIR No. 143/2023 U/S 188 IPC
FIR No. 194/2023 U/S 188/34 IPC & 11 PCA Act
FIR No. 08/2025 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act
Police investigation and reports revealed that the accused was again involved in bovine smuggling activities and was trying to create a network for carrying out such illegal acts. His activities were found to be harmful to public peace and communal harmony in the area.
On the basis of a detailed dossier prepared by Reasi Police, the competent authority issued the PSA warrant against the accused. The warrant was executed successfully today and the detenue was shifted to District Jail Rajouri.
Reasi Police remains committed towards maintaining peace, communal harmony and taking strict action against persons involved in illegal and anti-social activities in the district.
