J&K police Kathua attaches immovable property worth Rs 40 lakh of PIT NDPS detenue at Billawar

KATHUA, May 26: J&K Police Kathua today attached immovable property comprising single-storey residential house with a total estimated value of approximately ? 40 Lakhs, belonging to a PIT NDPS Detenue namely Darshan Singh @Deepu S/o Baldev Singh R/o Galak Tehsil Ramkot District Kathua, under the provisions of Prevention of illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS Act).
The property was identified as illegally acquired during the course of investigation. The entire proceeding was conducted under the directions of SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS alongwith SP Ops. Upper Kathua, SDPO Billawar and SHO Billawar.
During the investigation, it was found that the drug peddler possessed immovable property single storey Residential House valued at approximately ? 40 Lacs, situated at Galak Ramkot, Kathua, which was prima facie acquired through proceeds generated from illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Today, in the presence of the Revenue Department, a team led by SDPO Billawar and SHO Billawar assisted by IC PP Ramkot formally attached the said property under the provisions of Sections 68 A.2 (c) & E read with 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985.
During the investigation, it surfaced that the property had been acquired as a result of proceeds from narcotics-related activities. Since the property was prima facie found to have been acquired through illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, it was attached in accordance with the law
The said individual has been involved in 02 NDPS cases registered within Kathua District, as detailed below:
FIR No. 04/2025 under Sections 8/21/22/NDPS Act
FIR No. 106/2025 under Sections 8/15/21/22/ NDPS Act.
Local residents have hailed the initiative of Kathua Police regarding the attachment of immovable property raised or used through illicit trafficking of narcotics by drug peddlers in Kathua district.
Kathua Police remains committed to its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and reiterates its resolve to make the district drug-free by targeting both narcotics networks and illegally acquired assets of drug offenders. We also appeal to the people of Kathua District to come forward and share information about any such illegal activity by dialing 112 or 9858034100.
