| ASKPC, SSDYS appeal Government to ease NFSA process for displaced KPs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 30: ASKPC Expressing deep anguish and serious concern over the immense hardships being faced by displaced Kashmiri Pandit families in obtaining and updating ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference, Shree Sanatan Dharam Yuvak Sabha has made a heartfelt appeal to the Government to simplify, defer, or temporarily suspend the present procedure until the dignified return and rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits in their homeland. In a statement issued after having a meeting with Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Dr. Arvind Karvani, the organisation observed that while welfare schemes introduced by the Government are meant to extend relief and support to deserving citizens, the existing NFSA process has unfortunately emerged as a source of anxiety, confusion, inconvenience, and emotional distress for displaced Kashmiri Pandit families already carrying the painful burden of displacement for decades. The organisation stated that the present mechanism involving OTP verification, e-KYC formalities, digital authentication, repeated documentation, and compulsory coordination among family members has converted a welfare-oriented exercise into a highly stressful and practically difficult process, especially for families scattered across different cities and states. Particular concern was expressed regarding the younger generation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits employed in private institutions and corporate sectors far away from Jammu and other places where their parents presently reside. |
