Early Times Report KISHTWAR, May 30: Government Polytechnic College, Kishtwar successfully organized a Consumer Awareness Programme under the initiative of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Government of India, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology & Entrepreneur Development (IITED). The programme was aimed at creating awareness among students regarding consumer rights, telecom services, broadcasting regulations, cyber security, and digital safety. The programme witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and staff of the institution. During the awareness session, students were sensitized about various consumer protection measures in the telecom and broadcasting sectors, including Unsolicited Commercial Communications (UCC), spam calls, Digital Consent Acquisition, DND services, TRAI consumer applications, Caller Name Presentation (CNAP), consumer rights in television broadcasting services, PM-WANI, and mechanisms for lodging complaints related to telecom and broadcasting services. A special session on Cyber Security and Cyber Awareness was conducted by the District Police Cyber Cell, Kishtwar, led by Sub-Inspector Arfan Chandal along with the team of Cyber Police Station Kishtwar. The officers educated students about cyber threats, online financial frauds, phishing attacks, social media scams, cyber bullying, identity theft, and preventive measures to ensure safe online practices. The students were also informed about various channels available for reporting cybercrime and seeking assistance in cyber fraud cases. The programme featured an interactive session conducted by Sh. Hemraj Baghel and Sh. Prasanna Balvir, representatives of TRAI, who addressed the queries of students and faculty members regarding telecom consumer rights, digital safety, cyber fraud prevention, and various initiatives undertaken by TRAI for consumer welfare. Speaking on the occasion, the faculty members appreciated the efforts of TRAI, IITED, and the District Police Cyber Cell, Kishtwar, for organizing such a valuable awareness programme. They emphasized the importance of informed and responsible use of telecom and digital services in today's rapidly evolving technological environment. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks presented by Sh. Arun Singh, In-charge Government Polytechnic College, Kishtwar, who expressed gratitude to the representatives of TRAI, the District Police Cyber Cell Kishtwar, faculty members, students, and all stakeholders for their active participation and support in making the programme a grand success. Among those present on the occasion were Er. Dheeraj Shan, Rakesh Kumar, Er. Yassir Iqbal, Ashwani Kumar, Er. Suman Sen, Er. Karishma Parihar, Er. Syed Rubaya, and Er. Ashfaq Hussain, along with other faculty and staff members of Government Polytechnic College Kishtwar.
