6/16/2026 10:20:55 PM
Early Times Report
REASI, June 16: Continuing its relentless drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse under the ongoing "Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan," Reasi Police achieved another success by apprehending a repeat offender and recovering heroin from his possession during naka checking.
During routine naka checking conducted near Khaliyalta, Reasi at around 2145 hours, a police party noticed a person behaving suspiciously and appearing frightened upon seeing the naka party. The individual was intercepted and identified as Parkash Singh S/o Mohan Singh, R/o Gran Morh, Reasi.
During his personal search, police recovered a transparent polythene packet containing approximately 2.90 grams of heroin (chitta) concealed in the right pocket of his jeans. The accused failed to provide any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the recovered contraband.
Consequently, FIR No. 110/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the contraband.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused is a habitual offender with a history of involvement in multiple criminal cases, including:
* FIR No. 166/2019 U/S 8/15/20 NDPS Act
* FIR No. 275/2022 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act
* FIR No. 54/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act
* FIR No. 115/2022 U/S 379/201 IPC
The accused had also been previously booked under the PIT NDPS Act for his involvement in narcotics-related activities.
Reasi Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate the drug menace from society and reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug peddlers, consumers and other individuals involved in narcotics-related crimes. The public is urged to actively cooperate with the police by sharing information related to drug trafficking and abuse to make the district drug-free.
The sustained actions being carried out under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan reflect the unwavering resolve of Reasi Police to safeguard the youth and ensure a healthier and safer society.
