GANDERBAL, June 18: Following National Conference leader Omar Abdullah’s recent visit to Ganderbal, former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar in a statement has welcomed the announcement to rehabilitate shopkeepers, tenants , business establishments displaced by the ongoing road-widening project from Nagbal to Manigam. While praising the initiative, the former lawmaker emphasized that the rehabilitation benefits must be inclusively extended across all affected pockets, including Nagbal, Darend, Baroosa, Lar, Manigam, Beehama, and Garage, with special focus on long-term tenants and educated youth who have suddenly lost their livelihoods. Reflecting on past efforts, he noted that a previous plan to provide alternative shops near the New Bus Adda via a Public-Private Partnership mode was stalled after the administrative and constitutional changes of 2019. Concluding his statement, the leader urged the administration to move past paper promises and fast-track the construction of a commercial complex behind the SP Office to swiftly restore the economic stability of all affected traders. |
