Jammu, June 18: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), University of Jammu, organised Pre-Admission Counselling Sessions for prospective learners seeking admission to various postgraduate programmes for the academic session 2026–27. The sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation from aspiring students interested in Social Science disciplines and M.Com programmes offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online modes. The counselling sessions were designed to familiarise learners with programme structures, eligibility criteria, curriculum frameworks, learner support services, career prospects and admission procedures. Participants were also guided regarding the creation of DEB IDs and APAAR IDs, online admission processes and other academic requirements. Students actively interacted with faculty members and received detailed responses to their queries concerning programme requirements and future opportunities. Addressing the participants, Prof. Pankaj K. Srivastava, Director, CDOE, University of Jammu, highlighted the importance of pre-admission counselling in enabling students to make informed academic choices. He emphasised the learner-centric approach of CDOE and encouraged learners to benefit from the flexibility, accessibility and quality education offered through ODL and Online modes. He also informed participants about opportunities for holistic development and the provision for pursuing dual degrees as per prevailing academic regulations. The Social Sciences counselling session provided detailed information about postgraduate programmes in Political Science, Sociology, History and Economics. Faculty members present included Dr. Hina Abrol (History), Dr. Neelam Choudhary (Economics), Dr. Neha Vij (Sociology), Dr. Mamta Sharma (Political Science), Dr. Deepika (Sociology) and Dr. Ashu (Sociology). Prof. Anupama Vohra (Coordinator, MA English) and Prof. Anju Thappa (Coordinator, MA Hindi) also participated in the session. During the M.Com counselling session, Prof. Sandeep Kour Tandon, Coordinator, M.Com (ODL), provided a comprehensive overview of the programme, highlighting its learner-centric academic structure, flexibility and relevance in developing advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies in commerce, business and management. Dr. Nagendra Rao, Coordinator, Online Programmes, briefed learners about the M.Com Online Programme, its digital learning ecosystem, interactive learning resources and student support services. He also emphasised the significance of maintaining valid DEB and APAAR IDs for admission and academic record management. |
