Early Times Report
DODA, June 20: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Doda Police achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering approximately 6.90 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
On 19.06.2026, during routine checking in Doda town by a police team of Police Post District Hospital Doda, under the leadership of DySP Headquarters Doda and SHO Police Station Doda, one person riding a scooty bearing registration No. JK02BE-8909 was signalled to stop. However, on noticing the police party, he attempted to flee from the spot, which raised suspicion. The police team acted swiftly and apprehended him.
On questioning, he disclosed his identity as Aqib Javeed S/o Javeed Iqbal R/o Bun Doda. During his personal search, a transparent polythene packet containing approximately 6.90 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from the right pocket of his pajama. The accused failed to provide any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the contraband substance.
Accordingly, FIR No. 160/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda and investigation into the case is underway to ascertain the source, supply chain and any possible forward and backward linkages connected with the narcotics network.
Doda Police reiterates its commitment towards making the district drug-free and appeals to the public to cooperate with the police by sharing information regarding drug peddling and other illegal activities in their respective areas.
