The event brought together Ex-Servicemen, officials and dignitaries to commemorate the invaluable contributions of the veteran community towards the nation and to reaffirm the commitment towards their welfare and rehabilitation.
The programme was graced by Deputy Commissioner Krishan Lal as the chief guest, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Anil Kumar Thakur and Chief Planning Officer Manesh Kumar Manhas. More than 30 Ex-Servicemen from different parts of the district participated in the event, reflecting the strong bond between the administration and the veteran fraternity.
The proceedings commenced with a welcome address by Wing Commander Tirath Singh (Retd.), Zila Sainik Welfare Officer. He also underscored the importance of ensuring dignity, security and social inclusion of veterans and their families.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner paid rich tributes to the brave soldiers and veterans who have served the nation with courage, dedication and selfless commitment. He appreciated the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and acknowledged the significant role played by Ex-Servicemen in nation-building even after their retirement from active service. He reiterated that the District Administration remains committed to addressing the concerns of the veteran community and ensuring timely delivery of welfare benefits and government services.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for strengthening coordination between government departments and the Zila Sainik Welfare Office to facilitate effective implementation of welfare schemes for Ex-Servicemen and their dependents. He also encouraged veterans to actively participate in social development initiatives, youth mentoring programmes and community awareness campaigns, utilizing their vast experience and leadership qualities for the betterment of society.
During the programme, the participants were also sensitized about the ongoing initiatives being undertaken under the "Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan".
