Early Times Report YOL (HIMACHAL PRADESH), June 25: On the 75th day of the ongoing 78-day Yajna dedicated to the study and recitation of all four Vedas at Veda Mandir, Yol, renowned Vedic scholar and Yogacharya Swami Ram Swarup Ji delivered a discourse to devotees based on Atharvaveda, Kanda 20, Sukta 126. Explaining the Vedic teachings, Swami Ji said that God has bestowed upon every soul a human body composed of the five elements, along with five sensory organs-eyes, nose, ears, tongue and skin-and five organs of action-hands, feet, mouth, anus and reproductive organ. In addition, the mind and intellect have been granted to human beings for acquiring Vedic knowledge and realizing the true purpose of life. He emphasized that while these faculties are meant to guide an individual towards wisdom and righteousness, people often misuse them by engaging in actions contrary to Vedic teachings. Such deeds, he said, result in suffering and attract divine justice. Drawn towards worldly attractions and material pleasures, the senses frequently lead individuals away from spiritual knowledge and into vices such as lust, anger, pride, greed and ego, causing the soul to remain trapped in the cycle of birth, death and suffering. Referring to the Vedic mantra "Yatra Vrishakapih", Swami Ram Swarup explained that true and lasting happiness belongs only to the seeker who conquers desires and exercises control over the senses. Such a disciplined individual remains immersed in the bliss of the Supreme Being and progresses on the path of God-realization. |
