Leh, July 2: Secretary, Power Development Department (PDD), UT Ladakh, Himanshu Gupta, chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the PMDP-15 Transmission Project and review the status of ongoing power transmission infrastructure works across the Union Territory. The meeting focused on the implementation of the PMDP-15 Transmission Project, with detailed discussions on project execution, timelines, inter-departmental coordination, and measures to expedite pending works. Reviewing the status of various transmission and distribution projects, the Secretary stressed the importance of timely completion while maintaining quality standards. He directed all implementing agencies and concerned departments to strengthen coordination, resolve bottlenecks promptly, and adhere to project timelines to enhance Ladakh’s power infrastructure and ensure a reliable electricity supply across the Union Territory. The Secretary instructed the concerned agencies to expedite the remaining works on the Leh–Nubra, Drass–Zanskar, and Leh–Changthang transmission lines. He also directed the Deputy Commissioner, Nubra, to conduct site visits to inspect the progress of transmission line works and facilitate timely completion. Emphasising the strategic significance of the project, the Secretary instructed the agencies to complete the remaining tower foundations and tower erection works at the earliest, stating that the project is of national importance. He also reviewed the progress of the ongoing Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) projects in Ladakh. The meeting was attended by the Chief Wildlife Warden, UT Ladakh; Deputy Commissioners of Nubra, Changthang, Drass, Kargil, and Zanskar; CEO, PESL; Head of Department, Transmission, RECPDCL; Executive Director, NR-II, POWERGRID Jammu; Chief General Manager, POWERGRID Leh; Superintending Engineer, Distribution Circle, LPDD; Executive Engineers of EDD Leh and Kargil, STD Leh and Kargil, and EPD Leh and Kargil; representatives of the Project Implementing Agencies (PESL-RDSS and RECPDCL-PMDP); and heads of all Transmission Key Components (TKCs). |
