| Jammu rural police bust high-value theft case, arrest two | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 2: Jammu Rural Police have achieved a major breakthrough by solving a high-value theft case registered at Police Station Domana and arresting two accused persons. During the investigation, police recovered ?7.82 lakh in cash, around 35 grams of gold ornaments, a pair of silver kada, and also froze ?3.39 lakh lying in the accused's bank account. According to police, the theft took place on May 24, 2026, when complainant Sahil Kumar Sharma had gone shopping with his family at Bishmi Mart in Anand Nagar, Bohri. During the visit, a ladies' handbag containing cash and gold and silver ornaments was stolen from his vehicle. Following the complaint, Police Station Domana registered an FIR under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. The investigation was carried out by Police Post Pounichak using technical surveillance, CCTV footage analysis, and intelligence gathering. After sustained efforts, police identified and arrested the prime accused, Shashi Paul. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that the stolen gold ornaments had been sold to a local goldsmith, Jagdish Lal Anand. Acting on the disclosure, police arrested the goldsmith as well and booked him in the case for his alleged involvement. Police stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused are linked to any other theft cases. Officials described the operation as a significant achievement and reiterated their commitment to protecting public property and bringing offenders to justice. |
