| Police foils bovine smuggling bid; 3 bovines rescued, vehicle seized in Sidhra | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 6: Continuing its sustained drive against bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu Police foiled another attempt to illegally transport bovine animals during routine vehicle checking in the jurisdiction of Police Post Sidhra. During the naka checking, a Mahindra load carrier bearing Registration No. JK02DL-6354 was intercepted. On noticing the police party, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot. Upon inspection, 03 bovine animals were found being transported illegally. The animals were rescued safely, and the vehicle used in the commission of the offence was seized. In this connection, FIR No. 170/2026 has been registered at Police Station Nagrota under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the absconding accused, while further investigation is in progress. Jammu Police remains committed to the effective sa implementation of Operation Kamdhenu and will continue to take stringent action against bovine smugglers and those indulging in cruelty towards animals. |
