Pondicherry, July 9: The Times Higher Education (THE), renowned for The World University Rankings, recently released its 2026 Impact Rankings, evaluating universities based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This edition drew participation from a record 1603 Universities across more than 114 countries. Pondicherry University has been actively involved in this ranking framework since its inception from 2019, achieving notable global influence. In the latest rankings, our University has elevated its overall score of 60.7-66.7 with rank range of 601-800. Pondicherry University has made remarkable strides, excelling in SDGs such as SDG-6: Clean water and sanitation (301-400), SDG-8: Decent work and economic growth (601-800), SDG-11: Sustainable cities and communities (601-800), SDG-12: Responsible consumption and production (201-300), SDG-13: Climate action (201-300), SDG-14: Life below water (301-400), SDG-16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (601-800), SDG-17: Partnerships for the goals (601-800), Pondicherry University has been placed in the 1401+ band in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2027, reaffirming its growing global academic presence. The 2027 edition of the rankings evaluated 8,808 institutions across 106 countries, making it one of the most comprehensive assessments of higher education institutions worldwide. Among Indian higher education institutions, only 52 universities and institutions earned a place in the QS World University Rankings 2027, with Pondicherry University proudly featuring among them. The University recorded notable improvements across several key performance indicators compared to the previous year. It registered improvements in Academic Reputation (5.4), Employer Reputation (3.5), and Employment Outcomes (4.7), reflecting its continued commitment to academic excellence, industry engagement, and graduate employability.
