Early Times Report KATHUA, July 9: To spread the message of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, a friendly cricket match was organized between Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua and Government Degree College for Women (GDCW), Kathua at the GDCW Kathua ground under the guidance and supervision of Principal Prof. J. P. Singh. The match witnessed enthusiastic participation from both teams, who displayed exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication. Despite the scorching heat and the ongoing admission schedule in the colleges, the players actively participated to support the Government of India's vision of building a drug-free nation. After the toss, conducted by Principal Prof. J.P. Singh, GDCW Kathua elected to bat first and posted a target of 75 runs. The thrilling ten-over contest kept students, faculty members, and supporters on the edge of their seats as both teams fought hard throughout the match. In the end, Government Degree College for Women, Kathua emerged victorious by 8 runs after a closely contested game. Prof. Karam Chand and Rakesh Singh Chouhan were jointly adjudged the Men of the Match for their outstanding performances. Addressing the gathering after the match, Principal Prof. J. P. Singh appreciated the efforts of the organizers, faculty members, and players for making the event a success. He emphasized that sports play a vital role in promoting physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and healthy competition while strengthening the message of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and inspiring youth to stay away from drugs. The event was beautifully compered with lively ball-by-ball commentary by Prof. Ashwani Khajuria, whose engaging narration added excitement and kept the audience entertained throughout the match. |
