Early Times Report REASI, July 9: Continuing its sustained drive against drug abuse under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police has taken firm action against drug consumption by apprehending four persons found under the influence of narcotic drugs in the jurisdiction of Police Station Katra. During routine patrolling, a police party of Police Station Katra apprehended four persons at different locations including Jij Chowk, Railway Chowk, Varun Chowk and near Bhumika Temple, Katra, who were found in an apparent state of drug intoxication. The individuals have been identified as: 1. Sahil Sohtra S/o Satpal, R/o Mardia, Miran Sahib, R.S. Pura, Jammu. 2. Zahid Khan S/o Mohd. Sadeeq, R/o Ward No. 2, Kundrorian, Katra. 3. Dinesh Sharma S/o Ashok Sharma, R/o Macchedi, Katra. 4. Rakesh Kumar S/o Rumal Chand, R/o Ramnagar, Udhampur. All four individuals were shifted to CHC Katra, where their Rapid Multi Drug Urine Tests tested positive, confirming consumption of narcotic drugs/psychotropic substances. Accordingly, four separate cases have been registered at Police Station Katra vide FIR Nos. 224/2026, 225/2026, 226/2026 and 227/2026 under Section 8/27 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway. Reasi Police remains committed to eliminating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking from the district. The public is once again urged to support the police by sharing any information related to drug abuse or narcotics trafficking so that timely legal action can be taken against offenders. |
