Early Times Report POONCH, July 12: Poonch Taekwondo Club, in collaboration with MY Bharat Kendra Poonch and the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Poonch, successfully organised a trekking event under the theme "Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan J&K and Youth Engagement." More than 100 Taekwondo players of Poonch Taekwondo Club, along with coaches, national referees, parents and prominent citizens of Poonch, enthusiastically participated in the event, demonstrating their commitment to physical fitness, a healthy lifestyle and a drug-free society. The trekking event was flagged off by Dr. Ajay Sharma, JKPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Poonch, in the presence of S. Surjan Singh (Social Activist), Dr. Puneet Kar, and S. Rajinder Singh, Taekwondo Coach and Founder of Taekwondo in District Poonch. Among the distinguished dignitaries present were Bhanu Pratap, Secretary, District Poonch Taekwondo Association (DPTA); Vishvas Sudan, Joint Secretary, DPTA; Vanshika Sharma, Vice President, DPTA; Akarshit Sudan, National Referee; Toseef Tahir, National Referee; Qasim Hussain, State Referee, along with the parents of participating players. The trekking commenced from Poonch Taekwondo Club, proceeded via the Shiv Khori Track, and concluded back at the club after covering a total walking distance of approximately 7 kilometres through the mountainous terrain. Addressing the participants, Dr. Ajay Sharma, JKPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Poonch, appreciated the initiative and said that sports and adventure activities play a vital role in building discipline, confidence and responsible citizens. He congratulated Poonch Taekwondo Club, MY Bharat Kendra Poonch and the Department of Youth Services & Sports for organising the event and urged the youth to remain physically fit and actively support the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir campaign. Dr. Puneet Kar highlighted the importance of trekking for physical fitness and mental well-being. Speaking on the occasion, S. Rajinder Singh, Taekwondo Coach and Founder of Taekwondo in District Poonch, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dr Ajay Sharma JKPS, Director J&K MY Bharat Nitin Hangloo , Department of Youth Services & Sports, all dignitaries, coaches, referees, parents and participants for making the event a grand success. He said that the objective of the trekking programme was to promote physical fitness, adventure, environmental awareness and youth engagement while spreading the message of "Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Sports." Lastly Akarshit Sudan National Referee and organising Secretary DPTA reiterated poonch Taekwondo club commitment to conducting more such activities in the future to inspire the youth of District Poonch towards sports, fitness, discipline and nation-building through the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan J&K. |
