| PS Bishnah arrest two persons with 32 grams of heroin | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 13: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Jammu Police Headquarters Zone through Police Station Bishnah, achieved a significant success by apprehending two persons and recovering approximately 32 grams of a suspected heroin-like substance from their possession. On 13 July 2026 a police party of Police Station Bishnah was conducting routine naka checking and patrolling duty within its jurisdiction. During the checking, the police party noticed two persons moving under suspicious circumstances. Acting promptly, the police personnel intercepted and apprehended them. The apprehended persons were identified as: Anish Kumar son of * Surinder Sharma* resident of *Deoli*; and Daljeet Singh son of Nishan Singh resident of Makhanpur, Bishnah During their search, conducted in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure, approximately *32 grams of a suspected heroin-like substance, commonly known as "chitta,"* was recovered from their possession. As the apprehended persons failed to provide any satisfactory explanation or lawful justification regarding the possession of the suspected narcotic substance, necessary legal action was initiated against them. Accordingly, a case under the relevant provisions of the *Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act* has been registered at Police Station Bishnah, and further investigation has been taken up. The recovered substance was seized, sealed and documented strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the suspected contraband and to identify the forward and backward linkages of the apprehended persons. Jammu and Kashmir Police remains firmly committed to eradicating the menace of narcotic drugs from society. The general public is requested to cooperate with the police and share information regarding drug trafficking or substance abuse with the nearest police station. The identity of the informant shall be kept confidential. |
