| NSF Pays Tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh, Promotes Sports Among Youth | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 31: The National Secular Forum (NSF) on Friday observed the death anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Shaheed Udham Singh by paying floral tributes and distributing sports T-shirts among youth to encourage fitness, discipline, and a spirit of sportsmanship. Former BCCI Member and Provincial Joint Secretary of JKNC, Ankush Abrol, was the Chief Guest, while Dr. Vikas Sharma, Coordinator and Secretary, Central Zone JKNC, presided over the function. Vikshay Vashist, Working President of NSF, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour. Speaking on the occasion, Ankush Abrol said that Shaheed Udham Singh's supreme sacrifice and unwavering patriotism continue to inspire every Indian. He urged the younger generation to follow the path of courage, dedication, and selfless service shown by the great revolutionary and contribute positively to nation-building. Presiding over the function, Dr. Vikas Sharma said that the sacrifices of India's freedom fighters must never be forgotten. He stressed that the youth should focus on education, sports, and character-building while remaining committed to the ideals of unity, secularism, and social harmony. He added that promoting sports is essential for building a healthy and progressive society. Guest of Honour Vikshay Vashist said that Shaheed Udham Singh's life is a symbol of determination, patriotism, and justice. He called upon young people to honour the legacy of the martyrs by becoming responsible citizens and actively participating in social and national development. The programme began with a welcome address by Mohd Rafiq, who welcomed the dignitaries and participants and highlighted the significance of commemorating the great freedom fighter. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Jammu University Chairman Irfan Ahmed, who expressed gratitude to all the guests, participants, and media representatives for making the programme a success and reaffirmed NSF's commitment to youth empowerment and national unity. |
