REASI, Aug 4: In recognition of the outstanding performance and unwavering commitment of District Police Reasi during the 100 Days Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a felicitation ceremony was organised at the District Police Office, Reasi.
The ceremony was graced by the *Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, along with the **Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Shri Mukund Tibrewal*, Additional SP Katra, Additional SP Reasi, SDPO Katra, DySP Headquarters Reasi, SHO Police Station Reasi, SHO Police Station Katra, and other officers and officials of District Police Reasi.
On the occasion, the DIG U-R Range and SSP Reasi presented commendation certificates to officers and officials in recognition of their exemplary dedication, professionalism and exceptional contribution towards the successful implementation of the campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
Addressing the gathering, the DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range appreciated the relentless efforts of Reasi Police and commended the district for adopting a proactive, result-oriented and multi-pronged strategy to combat the menace of drugs. He lauded the commitment, teamwork and professionalism displayed by officers and personnel across all ranks, which played a pivotal role in the success of the 100-day campaign. He also urged all personnel to maintain the same level of commitment and intensify efforts in the coming months to sustain the momentum against drug abuse and narcotics trafficking.
During the review, it was highlighted that Reasi Police registered 97 FIRs against 114 accused* during the 100 Days Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. In a major crackdown on the financial network of drug traffickers, *five movable and five immovable properties* acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking were attached. The stringent provisions of the *Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act* were invoked against *12 habitual drug offenders*.
A first-of-its-kind initiative was also undertaken wherein four vehicles involved in NDPS offences were auctioned in accordance with Section 52A of the NDPS Act. As part of preventive enforcement measures, 53 bank accounts were frozen, 32 driving licences were cancelled, 27 vehicle registration certificates were suspended, and 26 licences of medical shops were suspended for their involvement in drug-related activities. These measures reflect the firm resolve of Reasi Police to dismantle the financial ecosystem supporting narcotics trafficking and ensure stringent enforcement of the law.
It was further highlighted that, alongside robust legal action against drug peddlers and consumers, Reasi Police also focused on rehabilitation and community outreach. Counselling and rehabilitation sessions were organised to facilitate the recovery, treatment and reintegration of affected individuals into society. Simultaneously, extensive public awareness initiatives-including street plays, seminars, public interactions and youth engagement programmes-were conducted across the district to educate citizens, particularly the youth, about the harmful consequences of drug abuse.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment by District Police Reasi to continue its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking while further strengthening enforcement, prevention, rehabilitation and public awareness initiatives to build a safer, healthier and drug-free society. |
