Early Times Report RAJOURI, Aug 11: The Indian Army organised an Awareness Talk on Drug Abuse at Government Higher Secondary School, Budhal on 10 August 2026, under the theme "Protecting Youth from Drug Abuse and Promoting the Welfare of Humanity." The awareness programme aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse on physical and mental health, families and society. Students were sensitised about the dangers associated with substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking, as well as the importance of making responsible choices and leading a healthy and productive life. During the interaction, emphasis was laid on the need for a coordinated approach involving families, educational institutions, healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies and local communities to prevent substance abuse and support affected individuals. Students were also encouraged to remain vigilant against peer pressure and spread awareness among their families and communities. A total of 36 students, including 11 boys and 25 girls, along with four teachers, attended the awareness programme. The students and teaching staff appreciated the initiative of the Indian Army in addressing an important social issue affecting youth, particularly in remote areas of Rajouri District. The programme further reflected the Indian Army's continued commitment towards youth welfare, social awareness and community well-being. |
