Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Aug 11: Shiv Kumar Sharma IPS, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, convened a meeting with all supervisory officers of District Udhampur and District Reasi to review the security preparedness and arrangements for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Independence Day celebrations 2026. During the meeting, DIG reviewed the overall security scenario and preparedness of both the districts and issued necessary directions to all stakeholders to work in close coordination and synergy to ensure foolproof security arrangements during the celebrations. The officers were directed to further strengthen security measures across the area, with special focus on vital installations, religious places, sensitive locations and important public places. Directions were also issued for strengthening of nakas, intensifying checking and surveillance and ensuring enhanced security arrangements at all vulnerable and strategic points. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring foolproof security arrangements at the venues where the national-level programmes will be hosted, including access control, deployment of adequate security personnel, traffic management and close coordination among all concerned agencies. The DIG stressed upon all officers to maintain close coordination and effective communication among Police, Army, CAPFs, CID, IB and other security agencies, besides ensuring round-the-clock vigilance and prompt response to any emerging security challenge. The meeting was attended by SSP Udhampur, SSP Reasi, Army representatives including Colonel-rank officers, Commanding Officers of CRPF Battalions 06, 126, 137 and 187 Udhampur & Reasi, Commanding officer of BSF, Addl. SP Udhampur, Addl. SP Katra, Addl. SP Reasi, along with other supervisory officers of Police, CID, IB and other concerned security agencies. The DIG directed all officers to remain alert and ensure that all security arrangements are put in place well in advance so that the Independence Day celebrations are conducted in a secure, peaceful and befitting manner. |
