Early Times Report RAMBAN, Aug 16: Continuing crackdown against the organised crime of bovine smuggling and the illegal accumulation of wealth through criminal activities, District Police Ramban has attached movable property worth approximately Rs 18 lakh under the provisions of Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. The action was taken during the investigation of FIR No. 86/2026 registered at Police Station Ramban under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. During the course of investigation, it was established that the accused had allegedly amassed assets through proceeds generated from bovine smuggling, theft, and other unlawful activities. Further investigation revealed that a vehicle owned by the accused had been acquired using proceeds of crime linked to bovine smuggling and theft. On the basis of evidence collected during investigation, Ramban Police approached the competent court and obtained attachment orders under the relevant provisions of law. Accordingly, in compliance with the court orders and in the presence of the Tehsildar Ramban, the following vehicle was formally attached: *Vehicle No: JK13C-8175 Owner, Umar Ahmed Gojar khatana S/O Mumtaz Ahmad R/O Narsanger LARNOO Anatnag Kashmir* The total estimated value of the attached property is approximately Rs 18 lakh.
