KISHTWAR, Aug 16: Continuing its sustained drive against the menace of drugs, Kishtwar Police achieved another success by apprehending one person and recovering approximately 09 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Naresh Singh-JKPS, while sharing the details, said that a patrolling party of PP Hidyal, headed by I/C PP Hidyal, under the supervision of Addl. SP Kishtwar & Dy. SP Hqrs Kishtwar during routine patrolling in the area, intercepted one person identified as Vivek Shan S/o Roshan Lal Shan R/o Mata, Kishtwar. During his personal search, approximately 09 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. The recovered contraband was seized in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure.
In this connection, FIR No. 180/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar, and further investigation has been taken up.
SSP Kishtwar directed the investigating team to carry forward the investigation meticulously to ascertain the source and intended destination of the contraband and to identify other persons, if any, involved in the drug network.
He further reiterated that Kishtwar Police has adopted a zero-tolerance approach against drug trafficking and peddling. He appealed to the general public, particularly the youth, to stay away from drugs and urged citizens to share any information regarding drug-related activities with the Police, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential. |
