Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 16: Despite rains, the Gandhinagar Morning Walkers Association celebrated 80th Independence Day with great national fervor and gaiety on 15th August at Greenbelt Park. About 250 members attended the Flag Hoisting function, many under the shelter of umbrellas. The President of the Association, Er. Chandra Uday and Chief Organiser Vijay Phoa jointly hoisted the Tiranga. The morning walkers jointly sung Vandemataram followed by national anthem. The children accompanying their parents presented some patriotic songs. Speaking on the occasion Er. Chandra Uday congratulated the morning walkers and other guests from Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar and Sainik colonies and said that the people should remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters who brought the independence for us and it is the duty of this generation to protect this freedom from the onslaught of forces inimical to India's march towards path breaking progress and socio-economic achievements. There were about 250 persons who attended the Independence Day function. Present on the occasion included ooctogenarian Dr Subash Gupta, former Principal of GMC Jammu, Dr. Santosh Gupta, Bansi Lal, K B Jandial, Former Chief Engineer Er. Lalit Mengi, Former Chief Engineer Er. JBS Johar, former Chief Engineer Er. Madan Gupta, former Chief Town Planner Ar. Chaman Lal Kaul, Mohinder Gupta, Prof Vijeshwar Verma, former Chief Engineer Er. Sumit Puri, General Secretary Jain Sabha, Sanjeev Jain, Advocate K C Gupta, Er. Sat Bhushan Gupta, Indu Bhushan, Vipin Malhotra, former Director Planning, Jagmohan Gupta , Rakesh Malhotra, Master Subash Sharma, Kul Bhushan Atri, Vijay Khurana, Madan Lal Gupta, Mrs. Shyama Kaul, Mrs. Pooja Malhotra, Pappi Manocha, Mrs. Kamala Gupta, office bearers of Inner Wheel. Later a sumptuous party was hosted by the Association for the participants. |
